Outreach

This semester's Outreach chair is Matt Weinheimer:
If would like to participate in any of these events, have any suggestions, or you would like to help organize outreach events this semester, email Matt, weinheimer@wisc.edu.

To sign up for these events, please add your name and email address on the spreadsheet under the corresponding column. Please follow these guidelines when signing up for events:

First Robotics Volunteering

You will go and work with the local First Robotics team here in Madison. Last time, they just asked us to observe and provide an unbiased opinion during reviews, etc. If you are unfamiliar with the program, here is a link to their upcoming competition: YouTube.

Girl Scout Going Green Day

They emailed us and asked us to be a part of this event, which is all about the green initiative. ASME will be in charge of the snack department, including a bicycle powered smoothie maker. Could be interesting.... ASME's time block has been broken down into two shifts in order to make it a little less of a commitment.

Polar Plunge

We definitely wanted to be a part of this event again this year. Everybody who wants to is more than welcome to join our group and participate (the more people we have, the more fun it will be). We are asked to raise funds as a part of this event, which sponsors the Special Olympics program here in Wisconsin. In order to sign up, please use both the GoogleDocs form, as well officially registering on the website for the event Polar Plunge. To sign up, just click on the "Register for Plunge" button, then choose "Join a Plunge Team." Our team name is simply "UW-Madison ASME." Fill out the rest of the information and start raising money!

River Food Pantry

This is a very cool event and seems to be relatively popular among ASME members. Each month we will head over to the food pantry on a Friday and spend some time volunteering. This event normally involves things such as serving food, helping patrons with their carts, etc. It is a very rewarding experience, and ASME strongly recommends trying it out!
